A FRIDAY OF FIRSTS

This week has been so wonderful! A highlight was definitely meeting your aunt Jeannie Thursday night. Your dad lived with her and uncle Charles when he worked at National Geographic in DC, and she holds a very very special place in our hearts. We just love her so much and are so happy you got to meet her! You also got to visit with your grams and grandpa (who calls you Maevey-Gravy), auntie Gina and cousins, Isla and Louis that night!

Friday was full of firsts for you, my Maeve! Your first trip to the library. Your first photobooth. Your first dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. So many firsts. So much fun.

Your cousin Isla recently graduated from kindergarten and is home for summer break, so we invited her to join us for a library trip Friday afternoon. You were such a good girl, and Isla was so great with you! I read you both several books in the library, which was full of kids (you liked watching them run around). You were perfect! I hope this is one of many cousin dates with you and Isla (and Louis, next time, too)!

Later that evening we headed over to our local West Elm store. They have always been super supportive of me and other local businesswomen. My friend, Megan, another local business owner (her business is The Zen Succulent) recently wrote a book. West Elm feted her Friday night when the book was released. You got to meet so many of your mom's colleagues and fellow business owners. You were a hit, naturally! And there were so many beautiful things to look at! After being persuaded by the photobooth operator we went for it and the result is a series of snaps of you and I so cute they almost hurt to look at!

After the party we scooped your dad up from home and headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant on a whim. It was late-ish so we missed the Friday night crowd, which was nice. And Maeve! You met almost the entire staff! First, the owner came out and proclaimed "So, that's where you two have been," to your dad and I pointing at you! The staff took turns coming out and talking to you and it was the sweetest thing ever!

In related news, I know it sounds crazy, but I think you might be close to teething! You're drooling tons, putting everything (including your dresses, your hands, our hands, etc.) in your mouth! So excited!

Saturday was also a big day! You visited your grandpa at the fire station, celebrated Xavier's graduation at a cookout and visited grandma, then got a visit from uncle Ed! So much excitement, and so much love for you little girl! xoxo
