FIRST HOLIDAYS

Holidays are a million times better with you. Since you've been here we've celebrated Passover, Easter, Memorial Day, and lots of family birthdays! First up: Passover. Sam and Meg (Lucy's mom and dad) invited us to our first Seder. That Friday your grandma Lisa and aunt Dedi happened to be in town so they helped dress you in the most darling blue dress with a wide brim white collar. It was very Mad Men-ish. That night you slept through dinner, which was delicious, of course. And when you got home you smelled strongly of perfume where the grandmas passed you around all evening. It was pretty adorable. At home you snuggled with me in bed and we watched The Ten Commandments on the laptop. It's my favorite movie.

We celebrated Easter with family and you wore the most adorable bonnet. Since you were due mid-April, and Easter was early April this year, when I was pregnant with you I secretly hoped you would arrive a few days early so we could celebrate Easter together. Of course my spring baby was destined to be a winter baby in the end, and you made it for Easter after all!

On the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend you attended your first ballet recital. It was your cousin Isla's recital. And it was adorable. You watched half of the performances quietly in my lap before falling asleep. Then your dad and I took you to a Hot Air Balloon festival. It was very cool. You slept in your stroller through the entire thing, but we took lots of photos for you.

I'm so looking forward to a lifetime of holidays with you, Maeve. And to celebrating everything. Life is just so much richer with you in it.
